HY-TECH Insulation House Paint is the result of thermal paint research that began in 1974 by a team of paint applicators and formulators on the east coast of Florida just south of the Kennedy Space Center. The coastal region, known for its highly corrosive salt air environment, annual hurricane exposure and extreme humidity and mildew conditions provided the ideal testing ground. As NASA progressed with insulating ceramic technology used in the space vehicles for reducing extreme heat, HY-TECH was there to utilize the NASA resources in our efforts to find just the right materials that could be added to regular house paint and provide heat reflecting properties without having an adverse reaction with the paint itself.

The challenge was many-sided and resulted in a very complex blend of ceramic vacuum-filled refractory products designed to minimize the path of hot air transfer through a dried paint film. The insulating ceramics block the transfer of heat outward when applied to paint on interior walls and ceilings, and prevents the transfer of heat inward when used to paint exterior walls and roofs, effectively providing year-round comfort in the home.
